5 Yoga Props You Need
Amber Connors | JAN 1, 2023
Whether you are just starting out or are a seasoned yogi, nonetheless, yoga props are meant to enhance and support your practice in a variety of ways. Here are my tried and true top 5 yoga props you need to enhance your practice. Purchasing through the following affiliate links help support my small yoga business, at no extra cost to you.

A good yoga mat is a must. It is the best investment you will make in your practice (and yourself!) and significantly makes a difference in feeling secure and grounded as your practice progresses. This particular one from JadeYoga has been my primary teaching and practicing mat (I have 2!) for a while and is made of eco friendly materials. Plus - Jade Yoga will plant one tree for each yoga mat sold!
Yoga straps are an incredibly helpful prop for beginners and advanced practitioners alike. They can bridge the gap of flexibility's limitation - and they are also great to secure stillness within a held pose.

Yoga blocks are a must-have prop for all levels of practice. They can fill the gap, allowing release and rest - yet are also useful in giving you feedback in a pose where you might need something solid to press into. Cork blocks feel markedly WAY more stable than foam because they are heavier and tactile. They can consequently double as handheld weights for your practice!
Yoga blankets are versatile and luxurious addition to your prop kit. This yoga blanket is high quality, densely woven for firm cushioned support, and best of all - made to last! You can fold yoga blankets many different ways to support your vinyasa practice. Blankets create padding under your joints or help down-regulate your nervous system by adding a layer of warmth to savasana, corpse pose.
Yoga bolsters are a great prop for adding cushion, enhancing relaxation, and seated support while practicing meditation. This one is firm and made of all natural materials. Additionally, the cover is machine washable for easy maintenance.
In conclusion, embrace props for their helpfulness and stability they add to your yoga practice. There are lots more possible props to experiment with, these are just my five favorite. If you look closely, you can even see them used in my home practice via social media or my practice videos. For a deeper exploration of using a yoga strap, see my post, How to Use a Yoga Strap.
